I have a pair of shoes by Chatham which I got around a year ago, so I could confidently state that these were going to be stylish, well made and very durable. The stitching is immaculate, it’s beautifully designed and delivers exactly what you expect from a premium brand like Chatham.
What Colours Do They Have Available?
I went for oxblood, the dark brown shade, as it’s a darker brown shoe than I currently owned. I must have around 8 pairs of light brown shoes, but I don’t have any in this shade, so I was captivated straight away.
You can also order this in burgundy, navy blue or tan, but I would personally say oxblood is the best option.
Being Able To Slip Right In
I do hate tying my laces, call me a child, but it’s just so much effort. I love being able to slip into shoes, but normally we associate that with flip flops, therefore having a slip-on formal shoe is perfect for when I have to dress up but want to quickly throw them on before leaving.
What Sizes Are They Available In?
You can order these in sizes between 6 and 15, but most importantly, they have a number of half sizes, e.g. I often opt for a 9.5 therefore it’s nice to spot this as I’m awkwardly between two numbers I frequently have to pick between.
What Do They Pair Well With?
I would say these are smart-casual, they’re not shoes you would necessarily wear with a suit, but they’re also not completely casual, they look smart for weekend relaxing while out in chinos type of smart.
They can also work with jeans and a nice shirt or t-shirt depending on the type. Generally, being boat shoes, the Shanklins do well with summer clothing, therefore shorts also work perfectly alongside these.
I will be attending a number of events in nice restaurants this week; therefore these will most certainly be accompanying me.
Leather Quality
It can be hard to tell the quality of leather shoes until you have the chance to feel them. You want it to almost feel a bit soft and flexible, rather than stiffened like a plastic. Well I’m happy to say these definitely felt flexible to the grip, a good sign that they’re a high standard of quality leather.
Who Are Chatham?
Chatham are a British footwear brand with over three decades of experience in designing premium quality shoes inspired by life in the countryside or on the water. The company is still family run today and was launched in the UK, so you can feel proud to support a British independent business.
Traditionally producing deck shoes, the range has grown to include other options, such as loafers, slippers, sailing footwear and even driving shoes.
Their Spring/Summer collection has just launched and I was delighted to try these out, while they certainly lived up to the bill.
Where Can I Buy These From?
You can order the Shanklin boat shoes from the Chatham website for £79. They offer free UK delivery on orders over £120, so you might want to pick up a second pair while you’re on the website to make the most of the offer, the walking boots are certainly where I’d have a peek as they all look amazing.
