The Best Gifts For Men

mens-gift-guide

Whether it’s your dad, a brother or a boyfriend, guys can be notoriously difficult to buy a present for, therefore I wanted to offer some ideas and inspiration to help you make a choice this year.

Buy A Suit

I love wearing a suit, whether for a wedding or if I’m attending a conference, however I don’t enjoy the costs. With the cost of the jacket and trousers, on top of the waist coat, shirt and tie, it all starts to add up.

Therefore, if you know someone special that is going to be attending some big events later in the year and they’re in need of a shiny new suit, then this could be the perfect gift for them!

The suit highlighted in the image is a Jeff Banks Navy Check Soho Suit, by Suit Direct. You can purchase it as a two piece suit for £179, or as a three piece for £239.

I’ve got a wedding coming up later this year and I can’t wait to wear this on the day. The Navy check fabric looks really stylish and stands out over the plane coloured options you often see at events.

It has four button cuffs and a single breasted two button jacket, while the flat fronted trousers are aclassic fit with straight side pockets, while the suit is made from 50% wool and 50% polyester.

Pay For An Experience

If you know them well, you should be able to pick out the perfect experience for them based on their general interests.

If they’re adrenaline junkies then you could pay for them to go skydiving or bungee jumping.

If they’re petrol heads, they might enjoy driving a sports car for an hour or potentially going quad biking.

If they’re a food fan, they might want to do a cooking class or go to a food tasting event. For me personally, paying for me to go on a bottomless brunch always is a winner.

Book Live Comedy

Whether it’s a local comedy show or an A-list comedian, this is always a great gift idea and you can buy yourself a ticket as well so you can share the experience together.

Alternatively, you could buy them two tickets, so they can take their other half or a friend along.

Me and Raquel have had the good fortune of seeing Jimmy Carr, while we’ve also got tickets for Russel Howard, Ricky Gervais and Alan Carr.

I always feel the experience is even better than watching live music, as you laugh hysterically and have a great time, but you get a seat rather than standing, but maybe that’s just because I’m getting old.

Water Flosser

I clean my teeth as soon as I’ve finished breakfast and right before going to bed, I just wish I had the same motivation and consistency when it came to flossing.

The whole process is long, frustrating and I’m just useless with the little wires, yet every time I go to the dentist and they ask if I floss, I get ready for the bombardment of reasons why I should start and what damage I’m causing.

But this is where a fun new gadget has come to the rescue, in the shape of a water flosser. To be precise, it’s the Oclean W10 water flosser, complete with 5 modes, including a sensitive mode in case you’ve got fragile gums.

The pulse frequency goes at 1,400 times per minute, while it has a hefty 30 day battery life. Also, if multiple people in the family get one, you can pick different colours to avoid confusion.

Cufflinks

With a wedding coming up this week, this was the perfect item to add a bit of flashiness to my suit.

The gold finish square cufflinks by Boutique Gifts is priced at £22.99 and you can customise both the cufflinks and the box they come in.

These looked so pristine, I was incredibly impressed by the quality, while the chrome gift box also has a velvet lining, making it look equally as impressive as the cufflinks.

If the gold cufflinks aren’t quite to your taste, they have plenty of other options, including silver and rose gold, as well as wooden ones and photo embedded options.

Supplements

If they’re into their health and fitness, then buying the right supplement could be an absolute winner.

For those into weight training, a whey protein is always a safe bet, unless they’re lactose intolerant, at which point you might want to go for a pea protein powder.

One I was impressed by was Sons Immune Health Supplements, which can be purchased as a one-off, or on a subscription basis.

The pack contains 30 packs, making it a perfect once a day monthly dosage (well, except for those pesky 31 day months).

Containing yeast beta glucan and vitamins, this has been formulated to support the immune system and fight off potential infections.

Packed with zinc and Vitamins C, B5, B6, B1, E and D, this is the perfect option if they’re looking to avoid getting ill.

Cosmetics

Most guys are useless at buying themselves cosmetics, hence why adverts for men’s cosmetics target women, as they know the majority of the time they will be bought by someone such as a wife, girlfriend or mother.

If that special someone does suffer with clogged pores, then the Dr Hauschka Clarifying Clay Mask can help to remove excess sebum from the skin and clean out those pores.

Priced at £25, the clay mask can easily be rubbed onto the face on a weekly basis, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth, before you apply a serum and moisturiser.

They also highlight that you might want to add their Facial Toner with some water to the mask in order to increase the effectiveness of the clay mask.

Containing natural essential oils and hamamelis virginiana bark extract, this toner will help to cleanse the skin and balance skin moisture levels.

Subscription Services

Whether it’s for Spotify, Netflix, DisneyPlus, Degustabox, Prime or Oddbox, there are so many subscription services out there and they can make for a great gift.

As they can all add up, they may want to sign-up to one of these subscription services but simply don’t have the budget available or can’t quantify paying the monthly fee, so if you can handle this for them, they’ll undoubtedly be delighted.

Of course, you will have to do some enquiring in order to find out what they don’t have and really want, so it might be worth simply asking them and enquiring if this would be a good gift.
