5 Fashion & Beauty Trends To Look Out For In 2018

How is it already February? It seems like only yesterday I was wrapping up Christmas presents. But with the new year brings new fashion and beauty trends to keep an eye out for. We have written out our top trends we reckon will be making a big appearance on the cat walk, on the high street and in the wardrobes up and down this country.

2018-fashionForget K-Beauty, It’s All About J-Beauty

K-beauty took Western fashion by storm, as healthy and hydrated look became a key consideration when choosing the beauty utensils. However as fast as it came into fashion, it has been edged out (I guess that’s fashion for you). A lot of research has gone into their products, with Japan holding the record for the highest per capita spend on cosmetics and skincare products.

Think soybean and loquat leaf when looking at the new ingredients on the back of your beauty treatments.

Puff Sleeves Are Back

I thought these were long gone, left in the 80’s with the perm and oversized blazers, but they have made a resurgence on the catwalk. Last year was the 20-year mark from Princess Diana’s death, who famously wore puff sleeves, so whether this had an effect on designers minds we don’t know, but there definitely seems to be a correlation.

40 Shades Of Riri

Rihanna was adamant she wanted to create a beauty line which suited all skin tones, a long overdue action that has prompted other make-up brands to act swiftly, as Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty range hit the shops in late 2017. We are expecting plenty more brands to adopt this policy in 2018.

Glitter Party

Whichever fashion show you went to, the glitter was clear to see, from the eyelids to the dresses and jewellery, we love a bit of sparkle and apparently so do the designers. From stick-on gems to glittery lips, it felt slightly 90’s, mixed with childhood and glam all into a concoction of magical beauty creating an elegant yet glitzy look. Ostentatious was definitely the word of the day.

Short Hair

Once again, something that was drawn from all of our favourite models and all of the catwalks was the noticeably short hair. A number of celebrities have followed suit in the past 4 weeks and have donned a pixie hairstyle. Bangs are making a bang!

Fashion is an ever-evolving creature which requires constant attention, so it will be interesting to see how this list holds up by the summer. So which trend do you feel should have made the list? Send in your suggestions in the comments or by email.
